Playing with a new camera (to me): The HP Photosmart R817, 14 September 2023

I recently acquired a Konica Q-M100, a 1,3MP digital camera from 1997. At the same time I picked up another few digicams, including a cheap little HP Photosmart R817. I bought this 5MP camera from a 5MP digicam from 2005 to use it for circuit bending, but first, of course, I'm wanted to see how it would perform with an infrared filter.

This morning the sky was a clear blue, and not too hot. I took the opportunity to head out for my customary 'walk around the block' armed with the HP and a collection of trichrome filters. The first image taken was with the camera on program mode where the device chose all of the settings.

I then set the camera to black and white mode and took one photograph with a Hoya 720nm Infrared filter and red, green and blue filters to see if I could create a digital aerochrome, one of my favourite exercises. 

The infrared sensitivity of the HP Photosmart R817 was really impressive. With the infrared filter we get a lovely image, and the digital aerochromes were really nice.
